Nashville’s
Number Chart System Here on this web site, we list the basics for the Nashville Number Code. It is best to learn this and use this notation to have your chord charts and arrangements ready before the first downbeat recorded. It is also recommended to send a copy of this to all of the musicians on the recording session, along with any type of demo (even a writer guitar or piano with a vocal demo), so the musicians can hear the song and look at the chart to become familiar with it. This is the responsibility of your producer and/or your session leader. HOWEVER, you should make sure they do this and that you have a participation in this process, because especially if you wrote the song, or you wish to do an old song a different way, you need to be able to effectively and efficiently communicate this to all of the musicians and by doing this chart/arrangement writing process, you'll have it all together in your own head first, where it really needs to be together. |
